Mobile Learning: Burst Coaching App

One of the exciting projects that we have going on at Burst is the development of our performance support app called Burst Coaching.

It’s an app targeted at managers who need a little help with crucial conversations.
So the scenario is that a manager has an important conversation or meeting lined up in 30 minutes where there is the potential for that conversation to go pear shaped.  Think performance management, feedback, coaching, delegation, negotiating, really any conversation.

The manager needing some just in time learning, reaches for their ever present iPhone, opens up the Burst Coaching app and has a focused burst of learning that ensures the crucial conversation goes well.

Important steps, questions, success stories, pitfalls and even a short practice will give the app just the right learning for a last minute burst.

We’re aiming for a late 2012 release. Stay tuned for more info.

  1. Bro, your app sounds awesome. The learning Factor has some similar apps. I like your approach to learning, just make it really easy, use everyday technology to connect people to resources when they news them. What kind of client work do you do?

  2. Hi Blair. Thanks for being the first commenter on the blog! And thanks for the heads up on the learning factor apps. I just checked them out and they are a similar idea, but they didn’t get the execution right. They feel like e-learning from 10 years ago.

Client work is a mixture. Sometimes some instructional design from scratch, a tidy up of an existing course, some facilitation either their material or mine, sometimes an interesting project everything from induction through to learning technology implementation. The industries are a mix too: Professional Services, Government, Logistics, Big Retailers, Banks.

On the app side of things, I’m going to do a series of posts showing the development of the app, everything from UI to Code to Learning Content. Stay tuned!

  3. Meant to say as well that I like your own everlearning website. Nice simple, clean aesthetic.
Do you have much experience on the more sophisticated side of e-learning (simulations, apps and the like)?
